About this place
Set along Meiji-dori in Sendagaya, the Chinese restaurant Wahei is a dependable spot for a casual, filling meal. Popular during lunch, the set meals include spicy pork stir-fried with bamboo shoots, fragrant mapo tofu accented with Sichuan pepper, and a textured stir-fry of pork liver, wood ear mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Each teishoku comes with one complimentary rice refill, delivering solid portions at reasonable prices.
Beyond the set meals, the menu offers a broad selection of noodles and thick-sauced ankake specialties. The house Wahei ramen and tender chashu ramen share space with plates like five-ingredient ankake fried noodles and beef-and-bamboo-shoot ankake yakisoba, pairing crisp-seared noodles with generous helpings of glossy, savory sauce. For rice bowls, options such as chukadon and vegetable-and-shrimp ankake don accommodate whatever the appetite calls for.
The dining room is laid out largely with tables in an unpretentious setting, making it welcoming for solo diners at lunch or anyone dropping in for a casual evening meal with a beer after work. Open from 11:30 for lunch and until 23:00 at night, the shop also provides takeout and accepts PayPay payments.
